Tylertown and Walthall County offer an

Walthall, Magee's Creek, and numerous

LOCATION

Tylertown is 85 miles from New Orleans, LA and 97 miles from Jackson.  US HWY 98 (four-lane) connects to
I-55 going west 18 miles to McComb, MS and heading east 55 miles to Hattiesburg, MS.  A feasibility study is
in the hope of being funded to review the possibility of a north/south four-lane (MS HWY 27-LA HWY 25)
which will give Tylertown four-lane access to New Orleans, LA and Memphis, TN.  This four-lane will serve
as an evacuation route for southern Louisiana and Mississippi. Read more about the four lane project

POPULATION

Walthall County has 15,156 residents and Tylertown has 1,910. However, don't let those figures fool you -
over 600,000 people live within 55 miles of Tylertown.  See the area demographics for a realistic view of the
population of the area. I guess that you could say that Tylertown has that "small town" feel but with the
workforce to support the needs of almost any company.

Tylertown is home to the Paul Pittman Memorial Airport, a 3,000ft general aviation airport.  We are also
16 nm East of the John E Lewis Field Airport, which has a 5,000ft runway.

COMMUNICATIONS

Tylertown is served by the local community newspaper The Tylertown Times, plus four dailies: the local
radio station, WTYL AM-FM, along with many others in the listening area: cable television, Bellsouth
telephone/DSL service and several cellular phone service providers.

Walthall County Hospital has 49 beds for acute care and 10 - geriatric psychiatric care beds.  Walthall
County Hospital is affiliated with Forrest General Hospital of Hattisburg which also serves county home
heath services.   Seven doctors and five dentists practice in Tylertown.  
Southwest Mississippi Regional
Medical Center (18 miles) also serves the community.
