Job purpose: To perform collection of outstanding debts by providing
financial, clerical and administrative services and maintaining efficient,
timely and accurate payment of accounts under his or her control.
Perform credit analysis in order to provide determination of credit
worthiness and grant credit terms. Perform other general
clerical/accounting & minor bookkeeping services as needed
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
1. Maintain a computerized accounts receivable customer file
system,
2. Monitor customer account details for non payments, delayed
payments and other irregularities
3. Follow established procedures for collection, follow up and
allocation of payments
4. Investigate and resolve customer queries
5. Organizing a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
6. Communicating professionally with customers via phone, email,
and mail
7. Process credit applications, investigate customer credit
references and make determination of terms
8. Perform other general clerical/accounting & minor bookkeeping
services as may be needed
Qualifications: Education, Experience and Skills
1. Some college: preferred but not required
2. 1 year accounts receivable experience preferred but not required
3. Knowledge of office administration, general bookkeeping
procedures and office etiquette
4. Knowledge of computer applications: Microsoft Word, Excel and
Outlook
5. Attention to detail and accuracy
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills

Training to be offered to possibly aid in Gulf
oil spill cleanup efforts
A four-day, 40-hour course for persons performing as general site
workers at an uncontrolled hazardous waste site, such as the BP oil
disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, is being offered by Southwest Community
College.
June 8-11 or June 15-18, 2010
Training classes will be at the McComb Fire Dept. from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
The fee is $325 for Mississippi residents; $425 for out-of-state residents.
Payment fee deadline for the June 8-11 class is June 4; payment fee
deadline for the June 15-18 class is June 10.
Hazwoper training classes are designed to train people for employment
as hazardous waste cleanup workers, working in environmental cleanup
such as the Gulf oil disaster. Participants in the class will receive an
Emergency Response Guidebook and other course materials along with
a certificate of completion of the course.
Taking the training, however, does not guarantee employment.
