Walthall County is referred to as the CREAM PITCHER OF MISSISSIPPI because it is the
primary dairy county in the state, leading in milk production and the number of dairies.

Conveniently located in southwest Mississippi, Walthall County is home to 15,000+
residents who contribute to the area’s rich agricultural history, from dairy and poultry
production, to the abundant pine harvesting.  Don’t let the population numbers fool you
though.  Over 600,000 people live within 55 miles of Tylertown which gives us the ability
to provide a quality workforce for the needs of almost any size company.

We can’t prove that southern hospitality was invented in Tylertown, but we suspect it
was.  Our folks are some of the nicest that you will find anywhere.

Tylertown offers an appealing climate for the family as well as business.  Ideally located
between Jackson, MS and New Orleans, LA, the city and county offer the pleasant
lifestyle of a progressive small town but with easy access to many parts of the south.
Four-lane HWY 98 makes traveling to Hattiesburg, MS and accessing I-59 a pleasant and
speedy route.  I-55 and McComb, MS is less than 20 minutes from Tylertown via four-
lane Hwy 98.

Our southern hospitality is genuine and we welcome you to call us home - for yourself or
your business.

Through the years, Walthall County and
the county seat Tylertown have typified the
relationship of a rural small-town and
county atmosphere.  The greatest asset of
our area is our people.  The residents of
Walthall County show strength of
character and exemplify superior work
ethics in everything they do.  Perhaps
some of this is due to the history of the
county which earned us the title of “The
Cream Pitcher of Mississippi".  Some say
that makes our people “the cream of the
crop”.  We couldn't agree more.
